On Dec. 12, 2006, Sheriff Gary Penrod conducted a "swearing-in" ceremony for medical volunteers of the San Bernardino County Sheriff Medical Reserve Corps, validating the merger of our existing 202-member San Bernardino County MRC with the Sheriff's Volunteer Services Division.

In response to the devastating firestorms, the Sheriff activated on Oct. 22 the San Bernardino County Medical Reserve Corps, a medical volunteer unit created by the San Bernardino County Medical Society and housed within the County Sheriff's Volunteer Forces Unit.
