San Bernardino County Medical Society leaders joined Democratic
state legislators, nurses and paramedics at Arrowhead Regional Medical
Center on May 16 to discuss the impact of Governor Schwarzenegger's
proposed budget cuts. The governor's revised spending plan, which his
office proposed on May 14, would reduce hospital funding and make deep
cuts to a wide variety of healthcare programs that affect the
availability and quality of emergency medical care.
Among the
speakers were: ARMC Medical Director and Department of Surgery Chief
Dev GnanaDev, MD; ARMC Emergency Department_Chair Rodney Borger, MD;
Sen. Gloria Negrete McLeod (D-Chino); Assembly member Wilmer Amina
Carter (D-Rialto); and Trauma Services Coordinator Jan Serrano, RN.
