Congressman serves on three powerful committees of interest to local doctors.
On April 11, politically driven doctors and staff from the Los
Angeles County Medical Association came out to the California Institute
of Technology's Athenaeum in Pasadena to meet with local U.S. Rep. Adam
Schiff.
Schiff sits on the House Appropriations Committee and its
Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Subcommittee, as well
as the House Judiciary Committee and the House Select Intelligence
Oversight Panel.
The group of longtime doctors, residents and medical students shared
their experiences working in medicine with Schiff for about two hours,
with a particular focus on the lagging quality of care available for
the uninsured, especially at not-for-profit hospitals. Another popular
topic with attendees was the future of healthcare information
technology, with Schiff noting that systems in place hinder quality
care by failing to give doctors and quick access to patient records.
