To officially commence the presidency of David Aizuss, MD, the Los Angeles County Medical Association held a June 20 installation banquet at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles attended by about 50 association members and their families.
In a speech kicking off the event and winding down his own term, outgoing LACMA President Ralph Di Libero, MD, recapped the association's accomplishments during the previous year, including the struggle with balance billing, the defeat of a proposition that would have offered an antitrust exemption for hospitals, the passage of SB 1773 for indigent ER and trauma funding, and the establishment of a health insurance task force.
Accepting the medal symbolizing his office, Dr. Aizuss thanked the previous LACMA presidents for their contributions. During his tenure, Dr. Aizuss promised to continue the organization's efforts in economic and political advocacy, while raising the association's public profile and boosting member participation.
