Touraj Shafai, MD, wins "Top Doc 2006" award.
On Dec. 5, 2006, Project K.I.N.D. invited its founders, volunteer providers and school nurses to a holiday luncheon, in part to honor several people for outstanding contributions to the organization's charitable mission.
Touraj Shafai, MD, received the "Top Doc 2006" award "for seeing the most medical referrals and for always being available for same day appointments."
Archana Sheth, DDS, received an award for seeing the most dental referrals. Anthony Worth, OD, was recognized for seeing the most patients for optometric care. School nurse Jeanne Pendleton, RN, received the award for turning in the most referrals and going above and beyond to create flyers to notify parents about the dental clinics.
Project K.I.N.D. was created by the Riverside County Medical Association in 1994 to provide healthcare in emergency situations to children in Riverside County public schools who do not qualify for Medi-Cal and who have no health insurance.
